Daily Prompt: Unexpected Guests

You walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room, eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.

Is it just me? I think daily prompts are becoming a bit more difficult to answer lately.

I think it depends on whether is a dream or real. Eating cake? I hope it’s not mine, haha. I don’t like to have someone outside the family check the fridge or pantry. But, if someone in the family invited them, it would be impolite to ask why they’re eating here. I surely would wonder what Mom or Dad is doing or where they are. And I would be wondering if I should ask them who they are, or if it’s rude to ask, or something like that.

When I was a child, we had more day-time guests than we have today. We used to be farmers, and many around us were too. They just came to talk to my parents, especially my father. The problem is I’ve never been good at memorizing people’s names or recognizing their faces. As a child, I was always having trouble matching our neighbors’ names and faces. So it was so awkward when someone was talking to me very friendly while I didn’t remember his name or I didn’t seem to know him at all.

I truly think writing a response to daily prompt is a great way to keep writing, but sometimes, a hour or two easily passes just thinking what to write to it. 😀
