Daily Prompt: Time After Time

“Traditions: we’ve all got ‘em. They might be family dinners on special occasions, or having a particular kind of cake on your birthday (Jeanne Cake, natch), or popcorn at the movies, or meeting your friend for a 5k run in the park, rain or shine, every Sunday morning. What are your favorite traditions, large and small? What is it about your traditions that keep them going strong for you?”

Ever since I embarked on the Internet, or I started shopping online, I think I’ve been searching with many keywords for books and information. At Amazon.com, I always put the names of my favorite writers in their search box as if it’s some kind of a ritual. I remember they had an e-mail notification service with specified search keywords back then. Now I need to do it manually.

I started reading books in English again a few years ago thanks to Kindle e-book reader. I was also very disappointed, because many of my favorite writers’ books had been long out of print and it seemed they were not likely to go online. Yet, anyway, my old ritual came back.

Now I’m putting a certain author’s name in that box almost every day. Late last year, I found that the e-book version of the first volume of my all-time favorite four-book fantasy became newly available. And I was really thrilled when the second book was out the next month.

But I had one concern about the series. A few years ago, I found that the first three books of the series had been reprinted, and I bought them. And there are audiobook versions for all five titles already. But the last two books’ reprint seemed unlikely to come anytime soon.

The third title of the ebook version came out on schedule in January. Last month, I was searching with the author’s name every day. Several times a day sometimes. Time after time exactly. And can you imagine my feeling when I found the fourth book at last? The reprint version has been out too. It’s also wonderful to know that my favorite series will get new readers too.

Now I’m patiently waiting the moment that the final volume will come out this month. It seems they are planning new titles to the series, too.
